Foreign nationals head home from Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Japan, Canada, France and the UK are among the countries which have been organising flights from Bengaluru to bring their citizens back. A group of Canadians boarded a chartered flight from Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on April 8. They were brought to Bengaluru after being stranded in parts of Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and AP.

The UK will arrange a special flight from Chennai (via Bengaluru) to London on April 20. Over 1,000 Britons have left India and another 3,000 will depart in 12 flights organised by their government from 11 Indian cities, including Bengaluru. According to a note issued by the consulate general of France in Bengaluru, two groups of people on its priority lists, based on age and health conditions, were taken to Europe on a flight organised by Germany on March 31. Other tourists were repatriated from Bengaluru on April 4.
Japan has repatriated 722 nationals by operating flights on April 12, 13 and 14 from Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.
